Christians from throughout Trumbull County will join with other believers from across the nation to observe the 65th annual National Day of Prayer on May 5 with a community prayer breakfast on the theme “Wake Up America.”

The event will be at DiVieste Banquet Hall, 745 N. River Road. The buffet breakfast will be served at 6:30 a.m. The program will begin at 7 a.m. and will conclude by 8:15. Tickets are $10 per person and can be obtained by calling First United Methodist Church at 330-392-6276.

Guest speaker is the Rev. Gary Frost, national facilitator of Prayer and Compassion Initiatives for Mission America.

Sponsored by Trumbull County Community of Christians, the prayer focus will be for our nation, our community, our businesses, our schools, our families and those who protect us.

Men’s musical

CAMPBELL

The male chorus of Shiloh Baptist Church, 238 Bright Ave., will host the annual men’s musical at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Valley and out-of-town male choirs will participate. Al Smith is choir president, and the Rev. Ricky Tigner is the pastor.

Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 67 McClure St., will celebrate the first anniversary of Pastor Mahdi Wade at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Speaker will be the Rev. Gary Frost. The anniversary theme is “Embracing and Encouraging Pastor Wade.”

Greater Pentecostal House of Prayer, 725 Fruit Ave., will mark its 59th anniversary at 10 a.m. May 1 on the theme “My House Will Be Called a House of Prayer.”

Bishop Salina Covington, senior pastor of Place Where the Lord Provides Church in Youngstown, will speak.

Corner House Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, will host a live simulcast of “Washington – A Man of Prayer” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Refreshments and fellowship will start at 6 p.m.

The program will commemorate the events of April 30, 1789, when President George Washington was sworn in at Federal Hall. The first president, accompanied by members of Congress, went to St. Paul’s Chapel, where he offered a prayer of dedication to God on America’s behalf. This is the fifth year of the event organized by Pastor Dan Cummins.

Brunch planned

The Missionary Society of First Congregational Church will sponsor a ladies brunch at 11 a.m. next Saturday at Wayne Town Hall, corner of routes 193 and 322.

New location

SHARPSVILLE, PA.

Eastgate Christian Church will celebrate its new location, 240 Church St., at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. There will be a puppet show, balloons and hot dogs.

Musical drama

The musical drama “Exodus – The Epic Rescue Of God’s People” will be staged at 6 p.m. next Saturday at Temple Emmanuel Seventh Day Adventist Church, 108 W. Indianola Ave.

GloryWay to perform

GloryWay will perform at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Encore Theater, 930 Great East Plaza.

The group has recorded eight CDs, and they will appear in 200 concerts this year.
