YOUNGSTOWN

A man who was pulled over by police Wednesday evening because they could hear the music from his car three blocks away was booked into the Mahoning County jail after officers found 99 pills in his car.

Abron Hobby, 34, of West Delason Avenue, is expected to be arraigned in municipal court today on charges of possession of drugs and driving under suspension.

Hobby was arrested about 6:30 p.m. by officers from the vice squad. Community Police Unit police on patrol could hear loud music from a car several blocks away.

The officers stayed where they were and waited until the car passed them, then pulled it over.

Reports said while the car was pulling over, officers could see Hobby, who was the driver, reach down as if he was trying to hide something.

When the officers asked him if he had anything, he told them he had pills.

Police found 16 oxycodone pills and 83 other pills that are painkillers, reports said.

Hobby was just indicted last week by a Mahoning County grand jury on charges of possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence.

A car he was driving March 12 was pulled over on West Evergreen Avenue for running a stop sign.

Reports said Hobby was throwing plastic bags out the window before the car stopped, and the bags had cocaine and heroin inside them, reports said.
