SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Students at St. Patrick School in Hubbard, a Lumen Christi school, recently took part in a Day of Service. All of the schools in the Lumen Christi School system participate. The St. Patrick students completed several activities to show their appreciation for the work of local law and safety forces in Hubbard. They also had a Dress Down day, in which students paid $1 to not wear their uniforms on a certain day. The school donated the money raised to the Sharon, Pa., police department’s K-9 unit to help purchase a bullet-proof vest for the department’s new K-9 officer that is now in training. On April 7, students traveled to the police station to present a check for the funds to officer Ken Guthrie and police chief Gerald Smith. The students were given a tour of the department and were introduced to officers and detectives. Pictured from left are Guthrie, students Vincent DePizzo and Isabella Bancroft, and Smith. The department continues to accept donations; send checks to Sharon Police K-9 Fund, Sharon Police Department/ Att: K-9 Fund, 155 W. Connely Blvd., Sharon, Pa., 16146.
