SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Ohio Star Quilters met recently at the Howland S.C.O.P.E. Center, 8273 High St., Warren. Topics discussed during the business meeting included planning for the Christmas party, Kid’s Quilt Days and the summer picnic. The group also finalized plans for its Quilter’s Day Out event at 10 a.m. May 4 at DiVieste Banquet Hall, 754 N. River Road, Warren. Ginger Mangie, a retired art teacher, quilter and embroiderer, will discuss “Sewing Your Story” and will show guests how to illustrate the histories of women with needle, thread and fabric. The event also will include a basket auction, raffle, and vendor displays. Cost is $25 per person, which will provide for drinks and meals. Tickets can be purchased by calling Lynn at 330-847-5377. A show and tell followed the business meeting, where member Janice Ventling, above, displayed her latest quilt. The group meets the first and third Wednesday of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the center, and new members interested in learning about quilting are always welcome.
