Prosecution rests

YOUNGSTOWN

Prosecutors have rested in the case of a man who is accused of trying to take a car at gunpoint in 2014.

Jurors are expected to hear closing arguments today in the courtroom of Judge Lou A. D’Apolito in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court in the case against Marquan White, 19.

White faces a count of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification. A jury was picked to hear his case Monday and testimony began Tuesday.

Officials to approve job-status change

WARREN

The Trumbull County commissioners are expected to approve a change in the job status today for Ernie Cook to become full-time director of the Trumbull County 911 Center effective May 1.

Cook has done the job on a part-time basis since Oct. 20, 2010, while also serving as chief deputy of the sheriff’s office.

But the “exponential growth of the 911 center requires the attention of a full-time director,” the commissioners said Tuesday.

Sheriff Thomas Altiere said he will plan to take over the duties Cook currently handles at the sheriff’s office in relation to disciplinary and bargaining issues. “I figured I’d just save the money,” Altiere said.

Juveniles caught

YOUNGSTOWN

Neighbors helped police catch three juveniles reports said were stealing things Monday from a home in the 200 block of Pasadena Avenue.

Officers were called there about 8:30 p.m. by a concerned citizen who said several males were seen taking items out of a home. Reports said an officer saw three juveniles walking on nearby Gaither Avenue who matched the description and stopped to question them.

Reports said a witness told officers they saw one of the juveniles removing a television from the home. Police went to the home and saw the back window broken and an axe handle by the window. Police found the television in the garage of the home, reports said.

All three juveniles were taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.
