TNP announces spring classes

Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership’s GROW Program is announcing its spring 2016 classes during April and May at various locations in Warren.

The gardening classes will cover topics such as pest identification and plant diseases, raised garden bed building and square-foot gardening.

The GROWing Healthy classes will cover eating healthfully for a healthful immune system, healthful cooking and fermented foods.

Class dates are as follows: Farmer Mini Conference, Wednesday; GROWing Healthy Workshop Series with Jessica Sowers, Monday, May 2, 9 and 16; Raised Garden Bed Building, May 7; Fermented Foods with Sophia Buggs, May 19; and Square Foot Gardening, May 21.

Classes are open to the public; reservations are needed. For detailed information on each class, visit TNP’s website at www.tnpwarren.org/grow or contact GROW Program Manager Sheila Calko at 330-881-7698 or sheila@tnpwarren.org

These classes help to build the capacity of community gardens by teaching residents new gardening skills.

The classes also improve health by teaching people how to make healthy dietary choices and how to cook healthy meals.
