Ryan announces $444K Kent State grant to study Alzheimer's
KENT — U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, has announced a three-year, $444,238 grant to Kent State University for research on Alzheimer’s disease.
The grant is from the National Institute on Aging of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
“If we are going to make advances in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, we need to make the right investments — and I am proud of the work that Kent State University does in medical and scientific research,” Ryan said in a news release. “I want to commend Dr. Gemma Casadesus, associate professor of biology at Kent State University for her commitment to this important work and congratulate her on this grant award.”
The grant will allow Kent researchers to better understand how a metabolic hormone that shows benefits on memory and Alzheimer’s pathology works.
