Leavittsburg man gets 45 months for teen’s death

WARREN — Thomas Catalde told Judge W. Wyatt McKay he loved his cousin, Jesse Hayes, 15, "a lot" and misses him "so much."

Catalde, 29, of Leavittsburg, got 45 months in prison today in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court for killing Hayes last May 9.

Hayes' family expressed frustration after the hearing with the amount of prison time Catalde got and the fact that Catalde had gotten a minor punishment for a New Year's Eve incident in which he ran over a man with a car.

Catalde pleaded guilty last week to involuntary manslaughter and using weapons while intoxicated for accidentally killing Hayes.
