Amphitheater series Concerts include Donnie Iris and KISS tribute act

Fire-breathing rockers KISS will be at the Covelli Centre on Aug. 26, but fans who want a warm-up show (or who don’t have tickets) can catch Strutter, the KISS tribute band, Aug. 20 at Warren Community Amphitheater.

Strutter is part of the 2016 River Rock at the Amp series – a baker’s dozen concerts, 12 of which are tribute bands. The lineup was announced Monday.

“The timing of the Strutter concert couldn’t be more perfect,” said Alyssa Connelly, marketing director for Sunrise Entertaiment, which produces the series.

The popular River Rock series draws big crowds to the downtown venue every year. Each event includes two bands, with the opener starting between 5 and 5:30 p.m. and the headliner about 8:30 p.m. Tickets range from $7 to $10 (free for children 12 and under), and can be purchased at the doors, and one week in advance at riverrockattheamp. Tickets also can be purchased at the Sunrise Inn, 510 E. Market St., and by phone at 330-392-5176.

Parking is free at Perkins Park, the Franklin Street parking deck and other public lots.

The series begins May 28, with the only non-tribute band: Donnie Iris and the Cruisers. Tickets are $10. Opening act is Full Moon All Star Band, a local band that plays classic rock covers.

July 2: Bruce in the USA (Bruce Springsteen tribute), with Huckin’ Fillbillies, $8.

July 9: Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd tribute), with Time Traveller (Moody Blues), $9.

July 16: 7 Bridges (Eagles tribute), with Chris Higbee, $8.

July 23: Natural Wonder (Stevie Wonder tribute), with Evil Ways (Santana), $8.

July 30: Almost Queen (Queen tribute), with Harvest (Neil Young), $8.

Aug. 13: Hollywood Nights (Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band tribute, and Diamond Dogs (David Bowie), $8.

Aug. 20: Dirty Deeds (AC/DC tribute), with Strutter (KISS), $7.

Aug. 27: Satisfaction (Rolling Stones tribute), with FM Project (Steely Dan), $7.

Sept. 3: Who’s Bad (Michael Jackson tribute), with Back Traxs, $9.
