YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown State University College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics shows off its high-tech labs and some of its best students at the STEM Showcase from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Moser Hall.

In addition, $1,000 in scholarship money will be given away to prospective YSU STEM students who attend the event and complete a survey.

The free event has become particularly popular among high-school students and their parents who want to learn more about YSU and STEM College education and careers. Guests are encouraged to register in advance. To register and for information, visit www.stemshowcase.ysustem.com.

Facilities open for tours will include YSU’s newly renovated Center for Innovation in Additive Manufacturing (3-D printing) and the brand new Launch Lab.

The Launch Lab is a creative venture, bringing together students from STEM, fine arts and business, to learn about product design, development and commercialization.

Emphasizing teamwork and collaboration across disciplines and areas of expertise, Launch Lab gives students a real-life opportunity to learn the entire process of creating a concept and bringing it to life.

Tours of core research laboratory facilities in chemistry and biological sciences will be conducted highlighting electron microscopy and molecular biology technologies.
