Stinking drunk? Police say ‘inebriated’ man used fart spray

ATHENS, Ga.

Police in Georgia have arrested a man accused of causing a stink at a bar.

The Athens Banner-Herald reported that a woman told officers Blake Leland Zengo, 20, of Bogart, sprayed her in the face with a product designed to smell like flatulence.

An Athens-Clarke County police report says several people left the bar Saturday, citing a foul smell inside, and then told police that Zengo was the culprit.

The police report described Zengo as “very inebriated” and said a bottle of spray designed to cause an offensive odor was found in his pocket. Zengo denied spraying anything. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication and underage consumption of alcohol. He was released from jail on $1,500 bond. It’s unclear whether Zengo has an attorney.

Convicted killer OK’d for Washington retail pot license

SEATTLE

A report about a convicted murderer being granted a license to open a marijuana shop in Washington has prompted a double-take by state officials.

The Washington Liquor and Cannabis Board selected Green Grotto LLC to open a marijuana store in the Seattle suburb of Issaquah. As first reported by The Issaquah Press, the company is run by George Garrett, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for killing his wife and dumping her body in Hood Canal in 1993. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Board spokesman Brian Smith says Garrett disclosed the conviction on his application for a marijuana retail license. Under the board’s rules, the felony did not automatically disqualify him because it was more than 10 years old.

Smith says the case “raised a flag” and that the board will be discussing whether further action is warranted.

Maine police on lookout for missing porcupine sculpture

PORTLAND, Maine

Maine police are on the lookout for a prickly piece of art.

Officials said Tuesday that a porcupine sculpture was recently stolen from the grounds of the Portland International Jetport. It’s one of 10 individual animal sculptures that are part of a work called “Glimpse” by artist Wendy Klemperer.

The metal animals are the first thing travelers see when arriving at the airport.

Animals include a deer and wolf. The porcupine that was stolen is nearly 3 feet long and is made from steel and repurposed nails.

A police report has been filed but the sculpture has not been recovered. Police are asking anyone with information about the missing sculpture to contact them.
