YOUNGSTOWN

The Recipes of Youngstown group will host “Memories of Mama’s Kitchen” on May 7 at the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center, 325 W. Federal St. The tasting event will take place from noon to 4 p.m.

In conjunction with Mothers Day, the event will feature more than 30 recipes that honor the dishes mothers, grandmothers and great-grandmothers used to make. Each dish will be accompanied by a photograph of the mother with the dish being served, and those serving at the event will wear old-fashioned aprons that fit in with the 1948 Youngstown Kitchen exhibit at the museum.

Highlighting the event at 2 p.m. that day will be the dedication of the Recipes of Youngstown Kitchen exhibit.

Sales from the cookbook as well as from two previous tasting events and food sales have provided significant funding toward the organization’s goal of $50,000.

Admission and parking at the event are free, but guests also can purchase six tasting tickets for a $5 donation. There also will be a basket raffle, 50-50 drawing and grand-prize raffle.

The group also has cookbooks available for sale. For more information, call the Mahoning Valley Historical Society at 330-743-2589, or visit mahoninghistory.org or cookbookshoppe.com.
