Boardman 7, Austintown Fitch 0

AUSTINTOWN

Boardman scored all of its runs in the third and fourth innings. Hudson Widrig had the complete-game shutout, giving up four hits and a walk while striking out four. The Spartans’ Coleman Stauffer was 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs. Gavin Strines was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Nick Stamp hit a two-RBI double. Jake Gherardi hit a double for Fitch.

Canfield 11, Warren Harding 9

CANFIELD

Canfield led 9-0 going into the sixth inning, but Harding sent 14 batters to the plate and scored nine runs to tie the game. In the bottom of the sixth, the Cardinals scored two runs to regain the lead. Luke Kelty had two hits and three RBIs, Spencer Woolley had two hits and two RBIs, and Mark Wittman had two RBIs for Canfield. Kyle Wills was the winning pitcher, striking out nine batters in just over an inning on the mound.

Niles 5, Lakeside 3

ASHTABULA

Niles strung together nine hits to pick apart Lakeside. The Red Dragons multi-hitters were Jaret Johnson, who was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs and Tyler Srbinovich who was 2-for-3. Niles pitchers Cameron Carson and Brandon Weida combined to limit Lakeside to four hits. Carson picked up the win with one earned run allowed on four hits and three walks and five strikeouts in five innings. Weida allowed zero hits in two innings while walking one and striking out four. Matt Rocco had half of Lakeside’s hits and scored a run.

Poland 3, Marlington 2

POLAND

Tony Chiaro had the game winning hit for the Bulldogs. Eric White pitched two hitless innings in relief to earn the win. Nick Petrolla and Don Drummond both collected two hits.

Howland 21, Liberty 0

LIBERTY

Howland took a 9-0 lead into the seventh inning and then piled on 12 more runs. Keith Rounds had three hits including a triple and three RBIs. Craig Lewis hit a three-run home run and Nate Leventis got the win by allowing one hit and striking out five in four innings. James Spisak had two hits for Liberty, which had four.

South Range 10, McDonald 0

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Winning pitcher Trent Harrold (1-0) had two hits for the Raiders (4-5). Travis Baxter drove in four runs while Brycen James had three RBIs and Ethan Dominguez had two. Harold, James and Baxter each hit a double. For the Blue Devils (11-3), Ben Carkido had two hits.

Western Reserve 13, Campbell 0

BERLIN CENTER

Western Reserve only needed four-and-a-half innings to handle Campbell. No Blue Devils player had more than one hit. Wyatt Larimer scored three runs and stole two bases. Jake Clark at a hit and two stolen bases. Ryan Slaven picked up the win as he gave up two hits and two walks and struck out three.

Lisbon 9, Sebring 3

LISBON

Lisbon scored six runs in the fifth inning to put the game away. Logan Bell was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and also picked up the win in relief as he struck out six in four innings. Cameron Summers hit a double, collected three RBIs and scored two runs.

Springfield 14, Jackson-Milton 2

NORTH JACKSON

Andy Sodergren and Nathan Sommers each had two hits and three RBIs and Brannon Brungard had two hits and scored three runs in the Tigers’ rout. Sommers had a triple and Sodergren had a double. Zach Renaldy singled and doubled for Springfield. Noah Laster singled and doubled for the Bluejays.

Crestview 15, Columbiana 5

COLUMBIANA

Joel Fitzsimmons had two triples and three RBIs and Devin Turvey, Andy Gorby, and Tyler Hurd each contributed two hits for the Rebels (8-1). Jake Crawford was the winning pitcher, pitching four hitless innings. Mitch Davidson had two hits and scored for the Clippers (6-3).

West Branch 18, Louisville 10, 11 innings

LOUISVILLE

In Friday’s completion of a suspended game, the Warriors (8-3, 5-1 Northeastern Buckeye Conference) scored eight runs in the 11th inning to win. Brant Alazaus won in a relief appearance, allowing two hits in three innings. Jon Snyder had four hits to led the Warriors while Hunter Steele drove in five runs with three hits. Tyler Goode had two hits and three RBIs while Trae Hillyer and Austin Smith each had two hits. For the Leopards (3-6, 2-4), Stephen Kerzan and Cam White each had three hits.

Columbiana 14, Wellsville 0

WELLSVILLE

Jake Clark pitched a five-inning perfect game for the Clippers on Thursday. Clark struck out 12 of the 15 batters he faced. Clark threw 59 pitches, 42 for strikes. Clark contributed three hits and three RBIs. Dylan Davin had three hits while Vince Vivo added two doubles. Ben Taylor drove in three runs while collecting two hits including a double.

SOFTBALL

Champion 2, Boardman 0

CHAMPION

McKenzie Zigmont (5-0) tossed a perfect game, striking out 18 batters for the Golden Flashes (7-1). It was Champion’s third perfect game in two days. Zigmont doubled to drive in a run. Molly Williams had the other RBI while Amber Ricci and Megan Turner doubled. Sidney Aey struck out five batters and walked one for the Spartans (2-3).

AUSTINTOWN

Jenna Gibson’s three hits included two doubles and drove in three runs for the Cardinals (9-0, 5-0 AAC Red). Abby Baker had three hits while Amelia Manenti’s two hits included a double and drove in three runs. Bridget Durkin (4-0) was the winning pitcher. For the Falcons (2-4, 1-3), Lainie Simons’s two hits included a double and Ashia Forest-Walker drove in a run.

Poland 8, Cardinal Mooney 3

POLAND

Kristyn Svetlack pitched five innings for Poland. She had three strikeouts and allowed five hits. Amanda Wire, Megan Marisco and Haley Kish each had two hits. Wire and Marisco contributed two RBIs each. Conchetta Rinaldi had two RBIs for Mooney.

ASHTABULA

Cait Kelm fired a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 11 and walking one for the Bulldogs (5-2, 4-1 All-American Conference White). Kylee Mann and Tori Wells each doubled while McKenna Cannon and Catie Bugos each had two hits. Cannon, Mann and Avery Steiner each drove in two runs.

West Branch 14, Howland 1

BAZETTA TOWNSHIP

West Branch broke the game open in the top of the fifth inning at Candlelite Knolls. West Branch’s Maddie Pigeon was 2-for-3, including a home run and five RBIs and Kylie Coffelt had four RBIs. Coffelt was also the winning pitcher for West Branch, striking out 10 while giving up a run on four hits and two walks in seven innings.

Ursuline 16, Magnificat 0

BAZETTA TOWNSHIP

Urusline’s Gia Calderone opened the game with a two-run home run as the Irish scored seven runs in the first inning. Calderone finished the game with three hits and four RBIs and Caroline Aey had two RBIs on three hits. Jordan Kenneally pitched a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts. Cassandra Hanuschak and Janessa Rich each collected three RBIs.

Girard 5, Hubbard 1

HUBBARD

Hubbard’s Addy Jarvis was the hard-luck loser. She allowed no earned runs, five hits, a walk and struck out 14 in seven innings. Hubbard committed five errors as a team The Eagles got their run off of Kayla Chmelik’s sacrifice fly. No stats were reported for Girard.

LaBrae 10, Brookfield 0

LEAVITTSBURG

Marissa Roberts led LaBrae with two hits and two RBIs while Kasey Rininger, Kristin Saner, Skyler Gilanyi, Haley Davies and Lauren Rutherford each contributed one RBI. Saner was also the winning pitcher, giving up four hits and striking out four batters. No stats were reported for Brookfield.

Springfield 13, Jackson-Milton 2

NORTH JACKSON

Lindsey Druschel had three hits, including two bases-loaded doubles, and drove in six runs for the Tigers. Nikki Brown singled, doubled and had three RBIs. Marlie Applegarth and Kaelen Yemma each had a single and a double for Springfield (5-1) and Jacqueline Kish, Michaela Cavalcanti and Makenzy Capoullez each singled twice. Madde Hyland had two singles for the Bluejays (1-7).

United 12, Salem 0

HANOVERTON

Anna Paterson pitched the entire game for United with a shutout save for one hit. She struck out nine and helped herself at the plate with a double and single. Mariah Eisenbraun added a triple and single to the United hit total. Clara Janofa took the loss on the mound for Salem but struck out five. Janofa also had Salems’s only hit.

Mathews 14, Newbury 4

NEWBURY

The Mustangs’ unbeaten start has stretched to six games. Lena Hoff was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Nicole Watts and two hits for two RBIs. Meredith Grimes hit a three-run home run and Alivia Holten had two hits for two RBIs and three runs scored. McKenzie Graham was the winning pitcher despite striking out no one.
