Road and bridge closings abound

The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced a series of road and bridge closings and detours in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

Beginning Monday, state Route 14 between Cunningham and Egypt roads in Green Township will be closed through Friday for a culvert replacement.

Beginning April 25, state Route 14 will be closed at Lisbon Road in Washingtonville through May 2, also for a culvert replacement.

In both cases, the detours will be over U.S. Route 62 and state Routes 14T, 165 and 46.

This work is part of a $900,000 project to replace culverts along various routes in Mahoning County. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by July 2016.

Vestal Road over Interstate 680 in Youngstown closed Friday and will remain closed through mid-October for the $2.5 million replacement of the bridge carrying that road over the interstate.

Hazelwood Avenue will be closed for 45 days during the project, which includes intersection improvements at Hazelwood and Vestal.

The detour will be over Hazelwood, Cherry Hill and North Belle Vista avenues to Salt Springs Road.

Beginning April 25, the Thalia Avenue bridge over Interstate 680 will be closed through May 2 for repairs.

The detour will be South Avenue to Mathews Road to state Route 170.

Beginning Monday, West Market Street in Warren Township over state Routes 5 and 82 will be closed through mid-October for a bridge replacement.

The eastbound detour will be over Park and Diehl roads, Burnett Street and Leavitt Road.

The westbound detour will be over state Route 5 eastbound, U.S. Route 422 and state Route 5 westbound.

This work is part of a $4.3 million project to replace bridges over state Route 5 at Eagle Creek Road, North Leavitt Road and Market Street.

Liberty Street over state Route 11 in Liberty Township is closed through mid-July for a bridge replacement. The detour is over state Routes 193 and 304 to U.S. Route 422.
