HUBBARD

A township man faces multiple felony charges after purportedly setting a car on fire during a domestic dispute.

Francis Rydarowicz, 44, of Everett Road is charged with arson and felonious assault. His next court appearance will be Wednesday in Girard Municipal Court for a preliminary hearing.

Police responded to Rydarowicz’s home Tuesday shortly before midnight for a report of a domestic dispute. An officer reported Rydarowicz had driven a car into a fire pit. The car was emitting smoke, according to a police report.

Rydarowicz told police he was acting in retaliation because the woman he lived with had locked him out of the house, officers reported.

Officers spoke to the woman and her son and obtained a video showing Rydarowicz waving a lit propane torch in a way that suggested he was attempting to burn the vehicle and the woman, according to a police report.

Eagle Joint Fire District firefighters arrived to make sure the vehicle would not ignite.

Rydarowicz was booked into the Trumbull County Jail and arraigned earlier this week in municipal court. Township police did not make the report available until Friday morning, saying Thursday it was not yet complete.
