Youngstown police investigating robbery at Dollar General store on East Side

YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said a gunman got away with an undetermined amount of cash about 4:40 p.m. Thursday from a Dollar General store, 2981 McGuffey Road.

Reports said a man came up to the counter, placed an item on the counter like he was going to buy it, but instead demanded money, then pulled a gun.

The clerk grabbed some bills out of the cash register but dropped them. The gunman reached over the counter to grab them, then ran outside to a car that drove away.

Police searched for the car but could not find it, reports said.
