Canfield 10-12, Warren Harding 2-2

WARREN

Amelia Manenti hit a two-run double for the Cardinals in the opener. Jill Baker had two hits and scored twice. Bridget Durkin was the winning pitcher. For the Raiders, Shaignn Powell singled and scored. In the second game, winning pitcher Kayla Troxil had three hits including a RBI double. Troxil struck out 12 for the Cards (8-0, 4-0 All-American Conference Red). Jenna Gibson also had a RBI double. Taylor Long hit a RBI double for the Raiders.

Poland 5, Hubbard 3

POLAND

Audrey Schweers led Poland with three hits and one run. Kristyn Svetlak, Jessica Ferrick, Ashley Wire and Lauren Sienkiewicz each scored a run. Megan Marisco was the winning pitcher, giving up five hits and striking out seven batters. Ruth Sandberg, Lea Munnell, and Addy Jarvis each had one hit, and Jarvis drove in two runs for the Eagles. Morgan Kist was the losing pitcher; she gave up five runs and struck out six batters.

Brookfield 14, Girard 4

BROOKFIELD

Michaela Gauding, Alisha Quinlan and Lauren Pesa hit doubles for the Warriors. Quinlan, Pesa, Bailey Drapola and Ella Simcox each had two hits. For the Indians, Syd Vokorich homered, Sam Dohy had two hits and Jess Dohy doubled.

Lakeview 12, Edgewood 0

LAKEVIEW

Avery Steiner pitched a one-hit shut out for Lakeview (4-2) and had three RBIs. Kylee Mann, Alex Romano, and McKenna Cannon each tacked on two RBIs and Sam Marino had two hits for the Bulldogs. Hunter Kaydo was the losing pitcher for Edgewood, striking out one batter.

Niles 6, Lakeside 1

NILES

Niles racked up 12 hits to pummel Lakeside. Sara Marz was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, Lexi Blaine had two RBIs on three hits and Taylor Ziegler was 2-for-3 a double. Hannah Wharton scattered five hits across seven innings while walking two and striking out 11. Jana Burke collected two hits for Lakeside.

Brecksville 10, Austintown Fitch 2

BROADVIEW HEIGHTS

Brecksville scored five runs in the second inning and rolled. Austintown Fitch’s Lainie Simmons hit a home run and collected two RBIs. McKenzie Luknis had two hits and Kayla Kelty and Alex Franken each added a hit. Franken took the loss for Fitch.

Champion 13-14 Campbell 0-0

CHAMPION

Champion pitchers recorded two no-hitters. Jackie Mulvain was the winning pitcher in game one with eight strikeouts and Carli Swipas took game two with 10 strikeouts on the day. Alayna Fell hit two triples during the doubleheader and McKenzie Zigmont had four hits, including a triple and four RBIs.

Western Reserve 10, Mineral Ridge 8

MINERAL RIDGE

Layla Wolf picked up the pitching win while Maddie Krietzberg’s three hits included a RBI double. For the Rams, Kaitlin Chirsty reached base three times and scored twice. Macey Garland reached four times and scored once. Kelsey Fritz and Dori O’Malley each scored twice.

McDonald 15, Jackson-Milton 0

NORTH JACKSON

Kendra Kelly had three hits and three RBIs to pace McDonald, while Hannah Donkers hit a home run and finished with three RBIs. Rachel Ward went the distance for the Blue Devils, notching eight strikeouts.

Lowellville 12, Sebring 2

LOWELLVILLE

Courtney Conklin went 4 for 4 for the Rockets. Kelsey Demetro went 3 for 3 and Sabrina Torres and Hannah Johnston each notched two hits. Isabella Sotlar earned the win for Lowellville, striking out five and allowing just two hits.

Mathews 5, Lisbon 1

LISBON

Four Mathews players had at least three hits. Bailey Hall collected four RBIs on three hits and was also the Mustangs’ winning pitcher. She struck out five while giving up three hits and three walks. Paige Sponslet was a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs scored. Lenna Hoff and Noelle Miggilozei were both 3-for-4 with Miggiozei earning an RBI for the Mustangs (5-0). Sam Tinsley scored the run for the Blue Devils (7-2).

Stow-Munroe Falls 3, South Range 2

STOW

South Range out-hit Stow-Munroe Falls 9-5, but couldn’t get the one hit to win the game. The Raiders put runners on first and second with two outs in the second, but Codi Taylor was picked off at second to end the rally. Caragyn Yanzk gave up two earned runs and struck out nine in defeat. Madison Weaver hit three singles and Hope Thomas hit a single and a double for South Range.

Marlington 12, Salem 5

ALLIANCE

Salem’s Clara Janofa was a triple short of hitting for a cycle. She went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and hit her home run in the seventh inning. Janofa also struck out six while pitching the whole game. Sydney Kline, Taylor Morrison, Rylee Leider, Bailee Thorn and Katie Moore had a hit a piece for the Quakers. Erica Robinson had four hits for Marlington.

Fitch 5, Akron SVSM 0

YOUNGSTOWN

On Wednesday, Maddie Everheart, Alex Franken, and Christina Tucker each had an RBI and Franken was the winning pitcher with 10 strikeouts for Fitch.

BASEBALL

St. Ignatius 1, Ursuline 0

CLEVELAND

Vito Petrillo allowed just one run on three hits in six innings for Ursuline, but the Fighting Irish offense went cold, notching just one hit (Chris Patton). St. Ignatius’ lone run came in the third inning.

Cardinal Mooney 8, Struthers 6

STRUTHERS

Aaron Woodberry went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Mooney, while Mike Williams notched a hit and two RBIs. Bryce Richey also had a single and RBI for the Cardinals and Antonio Page went four innings and allowed to runs to earn the victory. Jake Kriebel and John Medvec each had two hits for Struthers.

Poland 4, Howland 1

HOWLAND

Tony Chiaro went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs and Eric White, Pad O’Shaughnessy and Don Drummond all notched two hits apiece to pace Poland. Dan Klase went six innings on the mound for the Bulldogs, allowing just one run on three hits. C. Lewis had the RBI for Howland.

Niles 12, Lakeside 0

NILES

Jaret Johnson went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs to key Niles, while Tyler Srbinovich also went 2 for 3 with a double. Johnson also pitched all five innings for the Red Dragons, giving up just one hit and striking out 11.

Fitch 11, Canfield 1

AUSTINTOWN

Jared Kapturasky pitched six innings, giving up three hits and striking out six batters. Mike Grazier went 4 for 5 with one run and three RBIs. Dominic DiFransesco had two runs and one RBI, and Nic Bianco had one run. Canfield’s Joey Machuga was the losing pitcher, giving up five runs and striking out four batters. Joe DeLucia went one-for-three with the team’s only run.

Champion 9, Campbell 2

CAMPBELL

Champion’s Lucas Nasonti struck out nine and walked one while also collecting two hits. Drake Batcho added three hits, including a double and two RBIs for the Golden Flashes.

Mathews 11, Girard 10

VIENNA

Mathews senior Rob Helmick singled home the winning run for the walk-off victory. The Mustangs (5-1) rallied for three runs in their last at-bat. Bryan Oatridge led the Mustangs with three hits while Bryan Leipply, Chris Ritz and Mitch Goff each had two. Goff had a double and drove in four runs. Anthony Oulton had two RBIs.

Springfield 15, Brookfield 4

BROOKFIELD

Springfield fell behind 2-0 in the first inning before scoring in each of the remaining six innings. Nathon Sommers and Anthony Ugolini each had three hits. Brannon Brungard was the winning pitcher as he gave up four runs on six hits and two walks while stiking out two. Chad Ficipovich was the top hitter for Brookfield with three hits.

Crestview 5, East Palestine 3

EAST PALESTINE

Kaden Davis went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Jake Wick, Devin Turvey, Tyler Hurd and Brandon Chuey also scored for Crestview. Andy Gorby was the winning pitcher for the Rebels. Sam Yarosz was 3 for 4 with one run, and Trevor Kimmel hit a triple to score another run.

Mineral Ridge 4, Western Reserve 3

MINERAL RIDGE

Winning pitcher Mac White (1-1) scattered six hits, striking out four and walking four for the Rams (2-3, 1-3 Inter-Tri County League Blue). White drove in three runs and Jake Rhodes had the other. Rhodes and J. Zupko doubled. For the Blue Devils (5-1, 3-1), Ryan Demsky had three hits. Demsky and Walker Marlowe each had one RBI.

St. Thomas Aquinas 1, South Range 0

LOUISVILLE

Cooper Stephens had the only RBI, which came in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs. Robby Kostiuk pitched all seven innings and struck out nine batters for St. Thomas Aquinas. Anthony Ritter had the only hit for South Range, and Nick Deal was the losing pitcher.

Jackson-Milton 9, McDonald 5

NORTH JACKSON

Justin Rentz, Eric Osterowski and Noah Laster each got two hits to lead Jackson-Milton (5-0, 3-0). Rentz also got the win on the mound, giving up five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six. Jarett Mulrooney collected two RBIs for McDonald.

West Branch 8, Salem 2

SALEM

Brant Alazaus had two RBIs for West Branch and Jon Snyder and Tyler Goode each tacked on one run. Gino Sabatine was the winning pitcher, giving up nine runs and striking out seven batters. Kane Zellers, Keaton Turney, and Kabe Leininger each had two hits for Salem. Logan Wilms took the loss for the Quakers, giving up seven hits and striking out three.

For the Spartans (0-3), Alexis Phillips scored three goals while Francesca Cardillo and Alissa Earvin scored two apiece.
