Habitat for Humanity seeks volunteers to assist “crazies”

Staff report

STRUTHERS

Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning Valley will welcome the Habitat Road Trip Crazies to the area for a Blitz Build on April 23-24 for the DiPaola family.

The build will take place at 58 Ridgeway Drive.

The Habitat Road Trip Crazies are a group of 50 to 100 people who gather several times a year in small communities.

They help plan, organize and direct “Blitz Builds.” Over the course of two days, they will construct the entire outside of the house from raising walls to roofing to siding to landscaping and everything in-between.

Local volunteers are welcome to assist the group in a variety of ways:

Registration: Either for a 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. or a 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. shift both days.

Water service: Anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Lunch help: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

First-aid tent: Anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Parking attendants: Anytime between 7:15 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Cookie table: The group is coming from out of town and travels on its own dime. As a way to give them a warm Mahoning Valley welcome, there will be a cookie table at the construction site. You can drop off cookies next week at the Habitat office, 480 Youngstown-Poland Road. You also can drop off cookies at the construction site both days.
