Warren man arraigned on rape charge involving girl

NILES — Gilbert E. Skeins Jr., 21, of Maple Street and Warren Avenue is in the Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond, accused of raping a young girl.

Skeins was arraigned on the charge today in Niles Municipal Court.

Niles police said they were contacted by a relative of the victim in February, saying the child had been victimized while the relative was at the store.

No plea was required at Skeins’ hearing. He returns for a preliminary hearing at 9:30 a.m. April 25.
