Ursuline 9, Struthers 0

STRUTHERS

Alex Schlosser pitched a two-hitter in shutting out the Wildcats. Schlosser walked five and struck out three. Ursuline (5-2) scored all runs he’d need in a two-run second inning. Vito Petrillo singled twice and scored two runs for the Irish and Bobby Cavalier singled, doubled and scored twice. Drew Potesta drove in two runs. Mason Morell and Pat Carano had the only hits for Struthers.

Crestview 5, East Palestine 1

EAST FAIRFIELD

Michael McDonough (2-0) pitched a complete game victory for the Rebels, striking out 14 while allowing two hits in the first action for Crestview since last Tuesday. Devin Turvey doubled twice and scored two runs for Crestview (6-1, 2-0 ITCL) and Tyler Fitzsimmons and Caleb Hill also had doubles for the Rebels. Brandon Chuey had a big two-out, two-run single in the second inning to give Crestview a 3-0 lead. East Palestine’s Josh Fristik kept the Rebels off-balance while pitching an effective complete game. Fristik scattered seven hits. He walked two and struck out two. Sam Yarosz singled and scored on an error in the third inning. Josh Fristik collected the other hit for the Bulldogs (3-2, 0-1).

Columbiana 9, Wellsville 1

COLUMBIANA

Mitch Davidson took a perfect game into the fifth inning and finished with a one-hitter over six innings as the Clippers (3-2, 3-0 ITCL) beat the Tigers. Davidson struck out 13 and didn’t walk a batter. Vince Vivo, Davidson, Keenan Green, Tim Davin and Seth Ross each had two hits. Green collected a double and drove in four runs and Davidson also had a double and scored threes runs. Zach Fahs notched his first varsity hit in the sixth inning and pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Lowellville 3, Sebring 0

SEBRING

Tyler Barone struck out 15 and pitched a four-hitter as the Rockets (2-1) blanked the Trojans (0-3). Jake Maszczak homered and Tyler Hetmanski had two hits for Lowellville.

Lisbon 9, Leetonia 2

LEETONIA

Frankie Morrell and Noah Barnes each singled and doubled and the Blue Devils used a six-run second inning to build a 7-0 lead and cruise to a road win in the ITCL. Colin Sweeney scored three runs for Lisbon, which took advantage of four Leetonia errors to score seven unearned runs. Marcus Nenichka started and allowed two runs in 3 2/3 innings. L. Bell worked 3 1/3 innings of hitless relief.

Canfield 10, Warren Harding 0, 5 innings

WARREN

Alex Thompson pitched a one-hitter and struck out six as the Cardinals (1-4) beat the Raiders. Joe Delucia had two hits and an RBI and Joe Machuga and Kyle Wills both had 2 RBIs for Canfield.

Western Reserve 8, Mineral Ridge 3

BERLIN CENTER

Drew Slaven singled and doubled and Jeep DiCioccio singled twice, scored two runs and struck out six in five innings on the mound as the Blue Devils beat the Rams. A five-run third inning by Western Reserve was the difference. Dominic Velasquez drove in two runs for the Blue Devils.

Springfield 9, United 0

HANOVERTON

Andy Sodergren, Steve Ranelli and Nathan Sommers each had three hits as the Tigers crushed the Golden Eagles. Sodergren doubled and drove in four runs, Sommers doubled twice and had two RBIs and Ranelli also drove in two runs. Brannon Brungard had two hits and scored three runs for Springfield and Anthony Ugolini also had two hits. Sodergren scattered three hits and struck out four in five innings and Sommers finished the shutout by pitching the final two innings. West Branch 9, South Range 0

BELOIT

Connor Hedrick pitched a three-hitter and Seth Schroeder singled twice and drove in four runs as the Warriors (6-3) blanked the Raiders (3-4). Hunter Steele and Brant Alazaus each had two hits for West Branch.

Boardman 3, North Canton Hoover 2, 8 innings

NILES

Jared Jay pitched the first seven innings for Boardman (3-5) and struck out seven of Hoover’s batters. Sam Varga finished with a 1-2-3 final inning to pick up the win for Boardman. Coleman Stauffer scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a wild pitch. For Hoover (3-2), Cam Mayle had two hits and Ben Harris had one hit which resulted in a double.

Cardinal Mooney 2, Akron SVSM 1

AKRON

Devin Curd notched a complete-game win, allowing just five hits in seven innings, as Mooney edged Akron SVSM. Gino Guerrieri went 2 for 2 with an RBI for the Cardinals, while Brennan Olesh brought home the other Mooney run.

Champion 11, Campbell 0

CAMPBELL

Drake Batcho struck out 12 batters as Champion routed Campbell. Lucas Nasonti, Rem Rable and Tim Meyer all had three RBIs, while Nasonti, Meyer and Kyle Forrest all doubled.

Jackson-Milton 13, McDonald 4

MCDONALD

Eric Ostrowski pitched for Jackson-Milton, finishing with nine strikeouts and one walk. Ostrowski also was 3 for 3 at the plate with two doubles for the Bluejays. Noah Laster had two hits for Jackon-Milton, finding a single and a double, Ben Carkido had two hits for McDonald. Jackson-Milton is now 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the ITCL.

Mathews 12, Pymatuning Valley 2

VIENNA

For Mathews (4-1, 3-1), Anthony Oulton pitched five innings. Bryan Leipply and Kolan Elser both had two hits, with one of Elser’s hits resulting in a double. Mitch Goff hit a three-run homer in the first inning, capping of a six run inning for Mathews. Goff and Elser both had three RBIs. For PV, Robinson had two hits including a double.

Niles 8, Hubbard 1

HUBBARD

Tyler Srbinovich pitched six innings for Niles, allowing just one run and striking out six. Brandon Weida finished the final inning for the team and found two strikeouts as well. Geno Barricella led Niles at the plate with two hits and two RBIs. For Hubbard, Ryan Love had two hits. BJ Fronzaglio pitched three innings for Hubbard and found one strikeout.

Poland 7, Howland 2

POLAND

Jared Burkert scattered six hits over six innings for Poland and Anthony Calcagni led the Bulldogs’ offensive charge by going 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Pad O’Shaughnessy also added two RBIs and Nick Petrolla doubled and brought home two runs as well. For Howland, Craig Lewis and Parker had two hits.

SOFTBALL

Hubbard 7, Lakeview 6

CORTLAND

The Eagles rallied from a 6-0 deficit for the victory. Hubbard trailed 6-4 entering the top of the seventh, but rallied for three runs. The outburst was capped by Ruth Sandberg’s RBI single, which drove home Addy Jarvis with the tie-breaking run. Sandberg had two hits for the Eagles. Morgan Kist singled, doubled and drove in two runs for Hubbard. Emma Wukelich, Kayla Chmelik, Jarvis and Sandberg also had two hits each for the Eagles. Tori Wells had three hits and two RBIs for Lakeview, Avery Steiner had two and Sam Marino had three RBIs.

Liberty 14, Struthers 5

STRUTHERS

Allie Adler singled twice, homered and drove in three runs as the Leopards (3-2) rolled over the Wildcats. Allie Longo, Sydney Johnson and Samantha Serrano also collected three hits apiece and Liberty had 18 as a team. Longo and Johnson had doubles and Johnson and Serrano each drove in two runs. Raven Watson and Amy Mikulich each had two hits for the Leopards. Longo struck out nine and scattered nine hits for the victory in the circle.

Western Reserve 11, Mineral Ridge 2

BERLIN CENTER

The Blue Devils (3-1, 3-0 ITCL) broken open a tight game with six-run fifth inning to blow out the Rams. Maia Cormell singled twice, doubled and drove in three runs for Western Reserve and Maddie Krietzburg singled, doubled and had two RBIs. Sydney Miller singled twice and drove in a run. Krietzburg struck out five, walked three and allowed four hits in the victory.

Springfield 11, United 3

HANOVERTON

Every Tigers starter got a hit and Springfield (4-1, 2-0 ITCL) finished with 15 of them in a rout of the Golden Eagles. Winning pitcher Josie Applegarth had three hits, including a double and triple, and Cassie Bacon singled, doubled and homered to drive in three runs for the Tigers. Marlie Applegarth and Kaelen Yemma each had a single and double and Makenzy Capoullez singled twice. Mariah Eisenbraun led United with three singles.

Salem 2, East Liverpool 1

EAST LIVERPOOL

Freshmen Bailee Thorn pitched a two-hitter and struck out 10 for the Quakers. Maddie Brown struck out 12, but was the hard-luck loser for the Potters. Freshman Jessica Slocum laid down a sacrifice bunt to plate Katie Moore for the tie-breaking run in the fourth inning, Thorn and Clara Janofa had singles for the Quakers.

Jefferson 12, Howland 4

HOWLAND

Alyssa Irons struck out 11 and pitched a three-hitter as the Falcons beat the Tigers on the road in the All-American Conference. Maggie Moore had two hits and three RBIs for Jefferson and Emily Sukalac and Emily Smock each had two hits.

Lisbon 22, Leetonia 1

LEETONIA

The Blue Devils (4-2) pounded out 18 hits, led by Devyn Flory’s four knocks and three each by Kenedy Vrable and Kimmi Wiggers. Flory notched a home run as he finished with six RBIs, while Wiggers also homered and had four RBIs and Taylor Siefke hit a home run as well. Karlee Pezzano also went 2 for 3 with three RBIs for Lisbon.

Niles 8, Edgewood 3

ASHTABULA

Jazmine Smith, Sara Marz, Lexi Blaine and Lindsay Hayes all had two hits for Niles. Hannah Wharton also notched three RBIs for the Red Dragons, while she tossed all seven innings on the mound, striking out 13.

Girard 5, Brookfield 1

GIRARD

Karlee Byrne struck out 12 in a complete game effort for Girard (3-2). Offensively, Rosie Maderize and Sidney Vukovich each had three hits and Mel Bakes notched two hits and a double. Alisha Quinlan struck out five in a losing effort for Brookfield.

McDonald 11, Jackson-Milton 1

MCDONALD

Rachel Ward had three hits — including two doubles and four RBIs — to lead McDonald, while Hannah Jones notched three hits and Kendra Kelly had two doubles and three RBIs. On the mound, Cheyene Pitus had nine strikeouts in a complete-game effort.

South Range 5, Boardman 3

AKRON

Caragyn Yanek was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts and five walks. Morgan Czopur hit three singles for South Range (7-1), as did Yanek. Codi Taylor added two singles, and Hanna Dennison and Morgan Smith each hit a single and a double. Dennison had three RBIs and Madison Weaver contributed two. Boardman (2-1) found six hits at the plate, and Sidney Aey pitched for part of the game with one strikeout.

LACROSSE

Cardinal Mooney 16, Boardman 6

BOARDMAN

Mooney downed Boardman in a lacrosse matchup at Boardman High. Jamie Kempe had six goals and two assists for the Cardinals, Kirsten Joss scored five goals and Mia Stana had two goals and three assists. For the Spartans, Lindsay Tomzsany had 16 saves, Alissa Earvin scored three goals and Franchesca Cardillo added two.
