Bridge repairs set

YOUNGSTOWN

The Ohio Department of Transportation announced that beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, U.S. Route 62 eastbound and westbound between Albert Street and Interstate 680 will be closed through 10 a.m. Saturday for bridge repairs. A detour will be posted.

This work is part of a $17 million project to make repairs to the Route 62 bridge over the Mahoning River, Poland Avenue, Cedar Street, and the railroad. Work is scheduled to be completed by November.

‘The Nature of Cities’

The Time Bank Mahoning Watershed will present “The Nature of Cities,” at 7 p.m. today at the Saxon Club, 710 South Meridian Road.

The showing is a 40-minute documentary that joins Professor Timothy Beatley as he explores many different urban projects around the world

Dinner will be available at the participants’ cost at 6 p.m.

Women’s self-defense

BOARDMAN

Master Park Martial Arts Center, 212 Boardman-Canfield Road, will be offering women’s self-defense and self-protection seminars for age 18 and older from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Children are welcome to attend with an adult.

The seminars are limited to 20 participants, and the cost is $10 per person per class. All fees will be donated to the Boardman Park Children’s Playground Improvement Project.

Block watch to meet

YOUNGSTOWN

The Powerstown Neighbors Block Watch will meet at 7 p.m. today at Faith Community Church, 1919 Midlothian Blvd.

Councilwoman Basia Adamczak, D-7th, will discuss neighborhood issues.
