Biting case sent to grand jury

AUSTINTOWN

A case involving a woman who bit a nurse was sent to a Mahoning County grand jury for further consideration.

Heather Baney, 44, of Canfield Road, Youngstown, pleaded not guilty when she appeared in Mahoning County Area Court here on a felony assault charge Wednesday.

According to the police report, Baney bit a nurse who was trying to assist in treating a cut on the back of Baney’s head at St. Elizabeth Emergency and Diagnostic Center, 6253 Mahoning Ave., on April 2. Reports also said Baney was intoxicated.

Emergency personnel completed treating Baney’s head wound before she was taken to Mahoning County jail the following morning.

Baney still has not posted her $5,000 bond, and if she does, she is not to contact the victim or St. Elizabeth facilities unless there’s an emergency.
