Sheriff: Inmate found unresponsive in Summit County Jail cell dies

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A sheriff’s office says an inmate found unresponsive in his cell in the Summit County Jail has died.

The statement from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office today says a deputy found inmate Antonio Daniels unresponsive about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the county jail here. Authorities say the deputy and jail medical staff tried to resuscitate Daniels until emergency crews arrived and took him to a hospital.

Authorities say Daniels was pronounced dead at the hospital at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the death. No other information was immediately available.
