Ramos waives preliminary hearing on weapons charges

YOUNGSTOWN — The subject of a massive manhunt waived his preliminary hearing today on weapon charges in municipal court.

The charges against Luis Cruz Ramos, 31, were bound over to a Mahoning County grand jury.

Ramos was shot in the leg April 1 by U.S. Marshals after he eluded police for more than a day following a massive chase that began in Campbell.

He was indicted last week on 13 charges pertaining to that chase.
