Police arrested three people Sunday on charges in domestic disputes, and a fourth Friday on a charge of domestic violence.
Arraigned Monday before Judge Elizabeth Kobly was William M. Brooks, 59, of Allerton Court. He was arrested by police just before 11 p.m. Sunday.
Reports said a woman told police she argued with Brooks as they were driving in her car, and he punched her in the face, then got out of the car at Arch and Albert streets.
He was taken to the Mahoning County jail. Judge Kobly set his bond at 10 percent of $3,500.
About 2:50 p.m. Sunday, Jonathan Newsome, 22, of Chestnut Avenue in Struthers was arrested after an officer on patrol near Gibson and East Boston avenues saw Newsome and a woman who was later identified as his wife arguing. The two began pushing each other until Newsome slammed the woman to the ground, reports said. Newsome also was taken to the jail. His bond was set at 10 percent of $2,000.
About 1:10 p.m. Sunday, police were called to a home in the 1100 block of Burlington Avenue, where they found a woman bleeding from the mouth. Reports said the victim and a witness both told police the father of the victim’s infant child, Marquis Cambridge, 21, had punched her in the face.
Cambridge was booked into the jail on a domestic-violence charge, but at arraignment, the charge was amended to assault, a first-degree misdemeanor. His bond was set at $5,000.
Jason Payton, 32, of Southern Boulevard, also was given a bond of $5,000 after he was arraigned on a domestic-violence charge from Friday. Reports said officers were called about 9:45 a.m. to the area of Southern Boulevard and Wychwood Lane for a woman running on the railroad tracks holding a child.
Reports said when police arrived, the woman told them that she was in an argument at their Southern Boulevard home and he threw her to the ground and tried to choke her.
Reports said the woman’s face was red and she had scratches on her face and neck.
Police went to the home and took Payton into custody.
All the defendants entered pleas of not guilty.
