BASEBALL

Jefferson 5, Hubbard 2

HUBBARD

Colton Wilber pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and walking only one for Jefferson (4-1, 2-0 AAC White). Wilber also had two hits and an RBI at the plate. Tyler Maylish also had two hits for Jefferson while Dan Sartor had a double, the only extra base hit. Hubbard fell to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the AAC White in the loss.

Lisbon 12, Leetonia 1

LISBON

The Blue Devils (4-2) used a nine-run fourth inning to run past Leetonia. Logan Bell notched two hits, Avery Andric had three RBIs and Marcus Nenichka scored two runs and had two RBIs. David Toot allowed just one run on one hit in five innings while striking out eight. Brady Shepard notched the lone hit for the Bears.

Springfield 5, United 2

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Springfield’s Russ Seymour hit and pitched the Tigers past United. Seymour threw three perfect innings to start the game and added two doubles and two RBIs. Andy Sodergren hit a double, collecting an RBI and scoring a run. United’s Hayden Wilson had both of his team’s RBIs and Shane Black hit a double and scored a run.

Girard 3, Brookfield 1

GIRARD

Nick DeGregory went six innings for the Indians, striking out four and allowing two hits while going 2 for 3 from the plate with an RBI to help his own cause. David Blackmon also went 2 for 3 for Girard (5-3, 4-1 AAC Blue). Brian Hiner had a triple for Brookfield (2-2, 2-2 AAC Blue).

Canton Central Catholic 8, Cardinal Mooney 4

CANTON

Canton Central Catholic scored six runs across the fifth and sixth innings to down Mooney (1-4). No other details were reported.

SOFTBALL

Ursuline 4, Canton Central Catholic 0

CANTON

Jordyn Kenneally struck out nine while giving up six hits and four walks to earn the win for Ursuline (6-1). Megan Ross scored three runs and stole five bases and Gia Calderone collected two RBIs. Maria Polan had three hits for Canton Central Catholic (3-3).

Springfield 7, United 3

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Springfield pounded out 14 hits, led by Jacqueline Kish and Nikki Bovo, who each had three singles. Cassie Bacon added a double, single and two RBIs, while Makenzy Capoullez also had two hits. Josie Applegarth picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers, striking out seven and allowing seven hits as she improved her record to 3-1. United was led by Morgan Smith’s single, double and RBI.

Alliance 3, Salem 0

SALEM

Kohl pitched a shutout for Alliance, allowing two hits and striking out four batters against the Quakers. Kuntzman doubled for the Aviators, contributing one of the team’s five hits. Clara Janofa pitched a complete game for Salem and allowed no earned runs. Bailee Thorn doubled and Rylee Leider tripled for the Quakers (0-6).

South Range 14, Warren Harding 4, 5 innings

SOUTH RANGE

Caragyn Yanek was the winning pitcher for the Raiders (6-1) with three walks and nine strikeouts. Lydia Baird and Hope Thomas each had two singles and Madison Weaver had two singles and a double for South Range. Harding made five errors and had just three hits.

West Branch 11, Marlington 5

BELOIT

Bailey Byers, Maddie Pidgeon and Grace Heath each had two hits for West Branch (8-0). Kylie Coffelt, Kelsey Byers, and Ashley Weber each doubled against Marlington (6-1). Coffelt also struck out nine batters while Kelsey Byers struck out one. Maddie Myers scored two of Marlington’s runs and Erica Robinson contributed two hits. Ellie Smith gave up 11 hits and struck out five for the Dukes.

Hubbard 10, Struthers 0, 5 innings

HUBBARD

Morgan Kist no-hit Struthers, striking out seven in the run-rule game. The Eagles opened up for three runs in the third and six in the fourth inning. Ruth Sandberg racked up two hits on three RBIs while Annie Zagorec hit a two-run single and Addy Jarvis had an RBI double.

Lisbon 13, Leetonia 2

LEETONIA

Kennedy Vrable hit two home runs and notched four RBIs as Lisbon routed Leetonia in five innings. Hannah Hiscox also had two hits for the Blue Devils — including a triple and three RBIs — while Kimmi Wiggers had two hits as well. On the mound for Lisbon, Sam Tinsley allowed just two runs on six hits in five innings. Kyra Knight had a single and an RBI for Leetonia.
