Music producer David Gest, ex-husband of Liza Minelli, dies in London at 62


LONDON (AP) — David Gest, a music producer and former husband of Liza Minelli, has died at age 62 in a London hotel.

Gest's friend Imad Handi said he died today.

The Metropolitan Police force said officers were called to "reports of an unexplained death of a man in his 60s" at the Four Seasons Hotel in London's Canary Wharf on this morning.

The force said an autopsy would take place "in due course."

Gest married Minnelli in 2002; they divorced in 2007.

He was also a friend of the late Michael Jackson and produced a documentary about the King of Pop.

Gest gained a following in Britain with appearances on reality TV shows including "Celebrity Big Brother."
