Make Youngstown event scheduled for mid-April

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

This year’s maker event in the city is scheduled for April 20-21.

America Makes, the Youngstown Business Incubator and Youngstown State University will host “Make Youngstown” at the YSU Williamson College of Business Administration, 21 N. Hazel St.

The event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, will showcase local businesses developing or using advanced technologies that align with the “maker movement,” such as 3-D printing, interactive software, laser cutting and virtual reality.

An open panel discussion with local entrepreneurs and “makers” will take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. both days. The two-day event is free.

The first Maker Event was hosted by America Makes in 2014 and included Make magazine’s “shoot-out” to stress-test the limits of 3-D printers for their annual review.
