Youth theater Playhouse to present ‘The Time Machine’

The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theater will present “The Time Machine,” adapted by local playwrights Jim Canacci and Dylan White, at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $10 (general admission; $7 for current Playhouse Flex Pass holders). Tickets can only be purchased by calling or visiting the box office. Reservations cannot be made online.

There also will be a performance for area school students at 10 a.m. Thursday. For information, call 330-788-8739.

Based on the classic science-fiction novel by H.G. Wells, the story follows the adventures of “The Traveler” and recounts his journey far into the future from Victorian England.

Canacci recently created “Thespis and the Three Golden Feathers,” “Jonathan Frisby and the Rats of NIMH” and “The Hobbit – A Classroom Parody” for the Youth Theater. White is the author “A Shakespeare Christmas Carol” at Kent State University.

Featured in this new production are Anthony Genovese as “The Time Traveler” and Carly Magnuson as “Weena.” They are supported by a cast that includes Nicole Barber, Lauren Bero, Mia Bordonaro, Rahja Bradley, Gillian Canacci, Rebecca Catlos, Emily Choleva, Ethan Clark, Owen Corey, Dylan Fitzpatrick, Millie Heschmeyer, Sophie Heschmeyer, Katharyn James, Micaela Kreuzwieser, Haper Liller, Maggie McGlone, Olivia Pickens, Tajuan Richards, Adriana Rosario, Sophia Stanko, Jerrica Walker, Lily Weiss and Jonathan Winston.

Hannah Sisler serves as production stage manager, and Auggie Heschmeyer was in charge of film direction.
