Winners announced for Rotary speech contest

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR | Canfield Rotary announced the winners of its annual Four Way Speech Competition for local high school students and honored the win- ners at a recent luncheon meeting. Students in the competition must take a problem in society and analyze the issue and possible solu- tions using the Rotary’s Four Way Test, which consists of four questions: is it the truth, is it fair, will it build goodwill and better friendships, and will it be beneficial to all concerned? The contestants were judged on the originality, delivery, poise and relevance of their speeches and issues. Carson Markley, who won first place in the competition, will compete today in Canton against students representing the 47 par- ticipating Rotary Clubs in Northeast Ohio. Alec Kan won second place and Jack Cross and Dominic DeRamo tied for third place. Canfield speech coach Jeremy Hamilton, left, joined his students, Cross, DeRamo, Markley and Kan, at the awards luncheon.
