Martin Luther King Elementary School received a five-star rating as part of the Ohio Department of Education’s Step Up to Quality review.

“Not only did the Martin Luther King Elementary preschool program receive a five-star rating for excellence, it was also allocated 64 bonus points for all of the additional supports and services being provided by the program,” said Lori Kopp, executive director of special education at the city schools.

Step Up to Quality is a five-star quality rating and improvement system administered by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

The program recognizes and promotes learning and development programs that meet quality standards that exceed licensing health and safety regulations.

SUTQ ratings are based on national research-based standards that lead to improved outcomes for children and evaluative criteria that include learning and development, administrative and leadership practices, staff qualification and professional development and family and community partnerships.
