YSU should not have brought back Slocum

As one of the few fans who still go to YSU men’s basketball games (YSU had the worst attendance in the Horizon League), I was disgusted and shocked that Jerry Slocum is coming back for another season.

How do you justify this considering YSU had an 11-21 record this season and in his 11 years with the team his record is 129-221 and YSU has not won the regular-season title or the conference tournament?

Also six players have left the program the past two seasons. Three other Horizon League coaches whose teams had better records than YSU got fired recently.

Apparently the YSU athletic department is only interested in putting money in the football program and not in hiring an experienced, young coach to replace Slocum to turn the basketball program around.

[Athletic director] Ron Strollo and anyone else involved in this decision need to tell the fans still going to the games their reasons for this decision.
