Warren woman crashes after heart attack

Catherine Smolkovich, 77, of Warren crashed her car after suffering a heart attack on Mines Road, east of state Route 46, Saturday afternoon.

She was driving east on Mines when the event occurred, causing her car to go off the right side of the road and strike a fire hydrant.

Township emergency personnel arrived and began life-saving techniques, according to a press release from the Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Smolkovich was transported to Trumbull Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

She was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured from the crash, the OSHP said.
