Walking in a winter wonderland in the spring?

It sure looks like it.

The Mahoning Valley is supposed to get 3 to 7 inches of snow between Friday night and 2 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

It may pick up again a few hours later today, though it should add only a half-inch of new snow when it’s done before 7 p.m., the NWS says.

The area is under a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. today.

There’s also a chance of snow showers Sunday afternoon with an accumulation of less than half an inch, and less than 1 inch more of snow possible starting after 7 p.m.

Neither day is going to be warm. The expected high today is 31 degrees, increasing to a high of 38 on Sunday.

The average snow accumulation for the area in April is 3 inches. The Valley already had 2 inches of snowfall in April as of Friday morning.

The area had only 4.3 inches of snow in March. The normal snowfall for the region that month is 10.9 inches.
