Inclement weather forces cancellation of Mahoning County OVI weekend checkpoints

CANFIELD — The Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle While Impaired Task Force has canceled the sobriety checkpoints that were planned for tonight.

The weather forecast is calling for snow with accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. Operating a sobriety checkpoint in such conditions would not be safe for motorists, or the officers working the detail, the task force announced in a news release today.

The checkpoints will be rescheduled for later this month.
