Formation of Mahoning County Sons of the American Revolution Chapter
The Sons of the American Revolution, Ohio Society will be conducting two organizational meetings to form a Mahoning County Chapter. The two meetings will take place at the Canfield library, located at 43 West Main St., at 6:30-8:30 p.m. on May 18 and June 8 in the large meeting room.
Membership in the Sons of the American Revolution is for any man who is 18 years of age or older and is a lineal descendant of an ancestor who supported the American War of Independence. Ancestors who fought in the military and or militia, who provided supplies to the American cause, served on political bodies supporting the Revolution or who signed an oath of support and similar acts are eligible for membership.
The principal speaker will be Larry Perkins, State Eastern District Chairman, who has served as Past President of the Ohio Society(2003) and Vice President General of the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution(2007) among his long service to the Ohio and National Society. Members will be available to answer questions and assist in filling out membership applications. Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution have been invited to answer any questions about their membership. Ladies interested in joining are welcome.
