Poland library celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2. Everything at the event was themed and rhymed like a Dr. Seuss book would be.
Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, would have turned 112-years-old this year and the Poland library wanted people to join in on a celebration. There were crafts, games, snacks and a chance to get a picture with the Cat in the Hat.
Poland librarian Jen Kuzcek worked on organizing the party and setting up several stations for the guests to enjoy. Children could play hopscotch, make a Dr. Seuss hat craft, flip over cards to match pictures and Dr. Seuss flash cards.
Pink lemonade, or a Pink Ink Yink Drink, and rainbow goldfish, playing off “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish,” were available for snacks if the guests got hungry.
Kuzcek passed out a pencil and a piece of paper with the different activities on it to everyone. This helped ensure that the children could participate in every activity and check it off when they were done.
So many people attended the Dr. Seuss birthday bash that not everyone could fit in one room. Some people worked on their crafts at the outside table while others participated in the activities inside the room.
