The Boardman High School Rock Orchestra put on it’s 10th annual “Project Mayhem” performance on March 18 at the Boardman Performing Arts Center.

The performance, directed by Bill Amendol and co-directed by Michele Prokop, was a two-hour, one-night event open to the public. The songs performed covered a range of music genres the students have been practicing.

“We try and cover a broad range of music. The audience seems to be ranging from little ones, like 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds, all the way up to like 80-year-olds. We try to go back to hits from the ‘70’s all the way up to current,” said Amendol.

Rehearsals started at the beginning of the school year in September. The students met once a week for two hours after school leading all the way up until the final performance. The Boardman Orchestra and Boardman Choir worked together to put on several performances of a variety of songs.

The performance as a whole was a “Trans-Siberian” style performance, which was started in 2006. The laser light show was put on by Lightwave International of Pittsburgh.

The talent of the Boardman High School Rock Orchestra and the positive outcome of the previous performances allows Boardman to keep this an ongoing tradition for the school and the community.
