NEW MIDDLETOWN

Alex Schlosser tossed five innings for the Irish, allowing the one Springfield run before Vinny Lucente and Chris Patton closed things out. Alex Schlosser had an RBI double and a run scored for Ursuline. Drew Potesta and Brice Bokesch also scored.

Boardman 4, St. Ignatius 0

BOARDMAN

Hudson Widrig struck out seven and scattered three singles for Boardman (2-5) as the Spartans blanked St. Ignatius. Drew Wagner notched two hits to lead Boardman.

Poland 13, Warren Harding 3

WARREN

Jared Burkert allowed two runs on two hits in five innings and Poland scored five runs in the fourth and sixth innings. Anthony Calcagni, Eric White and Burkert each had two hits for the Bulldogs, while Pad O’Shaughnessy notched four RBIs.

Niles 1, Hubbard 0

NILES

Joe Proper scored the lone run in the bottom of the seventh to give Niles the walkoff win. Jaret Johnson went the distance for the Red Dragons in the shutout win, striking out seven while spreading out five hits. Hubbard’s starter, Colin Shinosky, lasted five innings for Hubbard, allowing only one hit.

Lakeview 14, Bristol 0

CORTLAND

Brendan Jones (1-0) threw a no-hitter, striking out 10 and walking three for the Bulldogs (1-2). He and Zach Angle each drove in two runs with two hits. Jim DePizzo’s two hits drove in three runs. Jackson Gagne contributed two hits and one RBI.

Lakeside 2, Struthers 0

ASHTABULA

Patton Sidebeck went six and two thirds innings for Lakeside. Grant Kingston went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI John Medvec pitched five innings for Struthers (2-6), striking out seven. Pat Carano, Jake Rudzik and Jake Shaffer each had a hit for Struthers.

McDonald 11, Mineral Ridge 3

MCDONALD

Winning pitcher Ben Carkido struck out five and walked one for the Blue Devils. He also drove in two runs. Dylan Portolese contributed a pair of doubles to drive in three runs. Mac White had three hits including a double while Aaron Frantz and Mike McLean hit RBI doubles for the Rams.

Columbiana 8, Southern 2

COLUMBIANA

Jake Clark logged seven innings of two-run ball for the Clippers, striking out 11. Dylan Davin and Tim Davin each had two hits to pace Columbiana, with Timfinishing with three RBIs.

Western Reserve 13, Sebring 2

BERLIN CENTER

Dom Velasquez no-hit Sebring (0-2, 0-2 Inter-Tri County League Blue) in the run-ruled game. The Devils (4-0, 2-0) knocked around Sebring starter Colton Brown for 13 runs on 13 hits in his four innings. Drew Slaven went 2 for 2 with a run while Logan Matas went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Wyatt Larimer scored twice and slapped a double.

Trinity Catholic 15, Valley Christian 0

YOUNGSTOWN

Zac Mammana threw a no-hitter against the Eagles (0-2) in the five-inning contest. His battery mate Collin Hohman got the scoring started in the first with a two-run homer. Quincy Jefferson also had a double for Trinity Catholic (3-3-1).

Mathews 6, Maplewood 3

VIENNA

Winning pitcher Ryan Kay struck out five and walked none for the Mustangs (3-1, 2-1 Northeastern Athletic Conference). Jordon Brown had two hits while Rob Helmick doubled in the five-inning game called by rain. The Rockets are 1-3.

SOFTBALL

Ursuline 16, Warren Harding 6

YOUNGSTOWN

At Wick Recreation Area, McKenzie Shells led the Irish attack with three two RBIs and four runs scored. Megan Ross and Caroline Aey each contributed two hits while Janessa Rich doubled for Ursuline (5-1). Jordyn Kenneally, Nikki Malkovits and Gia Caldrone each drove in two runs. Warren Harding’s Anastasia Riveria and Talaysha Harris each had two hits, One of Riveria’s hits was a two-run triple. Kennedy Rose also had a two-run double, Shailynn Powell tripled and Payton Schuller doubled.

Canfield 4, Austintown Fitch 2

CANFIELD

Jill Baker’s two hits included a double for the Cardinals (6-0, 1-0 All-American Conference Red). Chloe Cruz and Ally Sammarco had RBIs while Maura Kennedy stole home. Winning pitcher Kayla Troxil struck out nine and walked none. For the Falcons (1-2, 1-2), McKenzie Luknis homored and Alex Franken had two hits.

Champion 4, Newton Falls 0

NEWTON FALLS

Molly Williams had two hits while Jackie Mulvain smacked in two RBIs as the Golden Flashes shut out Newton Falls (2-1, 1-1 AAC Blue). Champion improves to 3-1 and 2-0 AAC Blue.

Boardman 14, Howland 4

BOARDMAN

Eight of nine Spartan batters collected hits in the run-shortened affair. Miyah Mitchum and Savanna Dempsey each had three RBIs while Dempsey and Lauren Gabriele each hit triples. Sara Price and Hannah Kowach each hit solo home runs for Howland.

Lakeview 4, Hubbard 3, 8 innings

HUBBARD

Three-hit games by Lakeview’s Avrey Steiner and Tori Wells propelled the Bulldogs (3-1, 2-0 AAC White). Steiner had an RBI single in the eighth to win it after Hubbard tied it in the seventh. Cait Kelm picked up the win, striking out six. Addy Jarvis struck out 10 hitters for Hubbard but took the hard-luck loss.

Liberty 26, East 3

YOUNGSTOWN

Samantha Serrano (1-0) was Liberty’s winning pitcher with three strikeouts and seven walks, while she also had four hits. Morgan Orr had four hits and three RBIs for the Leopards. Amy Mikulich and Joy Griffin both had three hits and two RBIs.

McDonald 6, Mineral Ridge 4

MCDONALD

Rachel Ward struck out seven Rams and had two RBIs at the plate while Kendra Kelley had three hits, two runs and a stolen base for McDonald (2-1-1, 1-0 ITCL Blue). Macey Garland had three hits with three RBIs and a run scored for Mineral Ridge (1-2, 0-1 ITCL Blue).

Western Reserve 12, Sebring 2

BERLIN CENTER

Winning pitcher Layla Woolf stuck out six and walked two for the Blue Devils. Jenny Stubbs’ four hits included a double and drove in five runs. Emma Dunlap had three hits while Maddie Kreitzburg’s two hits included a double and brought home two runs. Maia Cormell and Alexis Miller each had two hits and a RBI. One of Miller’s hits was a double.

Columbiana 6, Southern 0

COLUMBIANA

Sophomore Marissa McDonough fired a perfect game, striking out 16 batters for the Clippers (4-0, 2-0 ITCL White). She also drove in two runs as did Haley Tohm. Taylor Hall doubled. The Indians are 0-5.

West Branch 14, Salem 0

SALEM

Kelsey Byers threw a no-hitter, striking out nine and walking one for the Warriors (7-0, 4-0 Northeastern Buckeye Conference). Bailey Byers’ three hits included two doubles. Maddie Pidgeon, Kylie Coffelt and Grace Heath had two hits apiece. Coffelt drove in five runs and Pidgeon two.

Mathews 10, Maplewood 0

VIENNA

Paige Sponsler led Mathews with three hits and Lenna Hoff had two including a double. Alavia Oulten also notched a double and Meredith Grimes and Noelle Migliozzi hit triples. Also for the Mustangs, Lynn Cochran had three RBIs and Nicole Watts was the winning pitcher.
