Grand jury indicts Ramos on 13 counts

YOUNGSTOWN — Luis Cruz Ramos was indicted on 13 counts today by a Mahoning County grand jury for a chase March 31.

Ramos faces a count of failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, four counts of felonious assault, six counts of felonious assault with a firearm specification, resisting arrest with a firearm specification and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The charges come from a chase that began March 31 in Campbell when officers tried to arrest Ramos on a warrant.

Instead Ramos led officers on a chase and fired shots at officers at least twice.

Ramos led several departments on the chase until he abandoned his van on Interstate 680 at Lake Park Cemetery, and eluded a police search.

He was caught April 1 and shot in the leg on Maywood Drive. Ramos is presently in the Mahoning County jail.
