3 injured in Poland Township accident
POLAND — Three people were injured – one adult and two juveniles – when the car in which they were riding went off the side of U.S. Route 224, hit a culvert and a tree, rolled over onto its roof, and landed on the front porch of an occupied township home.
The accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. this afternoon west of Lowellville Road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. None of the car’s occupants suffered life-threatening injuries, according to a patrol news release.
The driver, Mandee L. Smiley, 23, of New Castle, Pa., was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Her juvenile occupants were taken to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley in Boardman. The accident is under investigation by the OSHP. Township police assisted with traffic control at the crash scene.
