The PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, one of the country’s top literary prizes, was awarded Tuesday to James Hannaham for his novel “Delicious Foods.” Hannaham will receive $15,000, and the other four finalists will receive $5,000. Here is a look at the five finalists, and their novel:
v James Hannaham: “Delicious Foods,” a thriller about race and class in which a drug-addicted woman, held captive on a mysterious farm, struggles to reunite with her 11-year-old son.
v Julie Iromuanya: “Mr. and Mrs. Doctor,” which centers around Ifi and Job, a Nigerian couple in an arranged marriage, begin their lives together in Nebraska with a single, outrageous lie: that Job is a doctor, not a college dropout.
v Viet Thanh Nguyen: “The Sympathizer,” a spy novel about a Vietnamese communist sleeper agent living in America.
v Elizabeth Tallent: “Mendocino Fire,” a collection of diverse but thematically linked stories.
v Luis Urrea: “The Water Museum,” a short-story collection.

Makeover event at Imbibe bar

Model railroad flea market

The Youngstown Model Railroad Association’s spring flea market will take place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at McMenamy’s Banquet Hall, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road. The event will feature 185 dealer tables of merchandise and equipment for all model railroad scales and general railroad interests. Merchandise will include Lionel trains, train parts, railroad books, DVDs, photographs and memorabilia. Admission is $5.
Color Run returns to Covelli Centre

The Color Run will return to Youngstown on June 11 starting at 8 a.m. at Covelli Centre. To register or for information, go to thecolorrun.com. The all-new Tropicolor World Tour will be enhanced by a Tropicolor Zone on the course, a Rainbow Beach at the Finish Festival and a limited-edition participant kit. The Color Run is a touring 5K noncompetitive race and party in which participants are showered with colorful powder.
