Penguins 5, Senators 3

OTTAWA, ONTARIO

Sidney Crosby and Carl Hagelin each scored twice and the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Ottawa Senators for their seventh straight victory. Crosby’s pair included an empty-netter and Patric Hornqvist also scored for Pittsburgh. Rookie goaltender Matt Murray made 27 saves. Erik Karlsson, Mike Hoffman and Zack Smith scored for the Senators, who blew a 3-0 lead. Andrew Hammond stopped 23 of 27 shots.

Sabres 3, Devils 1

NEWARK, N.J.

Jack Eichel got his 24th goal and Ryan O’Reilly got his 21st to help the Buffalo Sabres beat the New Jersey Devils. Johan Larsson also scored and Chad Johnson made 18 saves for the Sabres. Both teams have been eliminated from playoff contention. The Sabres have been near the bottom of the Eastern Conference most of the season.

Hurricanes 2, Bruins 1

BOSTON

Noah Hanifin scored the only goal of a shootout in the fifth round and Cam Ward stopped 35 shots to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat Boston and dent the Bruins’ playoff hopes. Loui Eriksson’s third-period tying goal helped the Bruins force overtime and earn one point.

Islanders 4, Capitals 3

WASHINGTON

Thomas Hickey scored in overtime as the New York Islanders rallied from two goals down in the third period to beat the Washington Capitals to clinch a playoff berth. Hickey returned to the game after being cut by a skate and scored in overtime to complete the comeback.

Panthers 4, Canadiens 1

MONTREAL

Roberto Luongo made 32 saves and Aleksander Barkov got his 28th goal to help the Florida Panthers beat the Montreal Canadiens for their fourth straight win. Nick Bjugstad, Greg McKegg and Jiri Hudler also scored for playoff-bound Florida, and Jaromir Jagr had two assists.

Rangers 3, Lightning 2

NEW YORK

Derek Stepan scored twice and set up Chris Kreider’s winner while rallying the New York Rangers to a victory over the playoff-bound Tampa Bay Lightning. Henrik Lundqvist withstood a 21-shot first-period barrage and finished with 39 saves as the Rangers won their second straight game.

Predators 4, Avalanche 3

NASHVILLE, TENN.

Craig Smith scored at 4:17 of the third period, and the Nashville Predators eliminated Colorado from playoff contention by edging the Avalanche. With the win, the Predators snapped their own four-game winless skid that started with a loss to Colorado in Nashville on March 28.

Sharks 3, Wild 0

ST. PAUL, MINN.

James Reimer made 29 saves for his third shutout in eight games and the San Jose Sharks beat the playoff-bound Minnesota Wild. Minnesota lost its fourth straight game and second straight with a chance to clinch a playoff berth but backed into a postseason spot when Colorado lost to Nashville on Tuesday night.

Blackhawks 6, Coyotes 2

CHICAGO

Trevor van Riemsdyk and Andrew Ladd scored after Artem Anisimov was knocked out of the game by a questionable hit from Antoine Vermette, and the surging Chicago Blackhawks beat the Arizona Coyotes.
