Man feeding pigeons assaulted

WARREN

A’Drean Bennett, 22, of Denison Avenue Northwest, pleaded not guilty in Warren Municipal Court Monday to misdemeanor assault, after being accused of punching a man, 71, in the face Saturday afternoon in the Kmart parking lot on Parkman Road Southwest.

Police said the man was feeding pigeons in a remote part of the parking lot at 2:20 p.m. when a car passed near him, scaring the pigeons.

The man said he called the driver a name. A few minutes later, he turned to see a male standing behind him who grabbed a cart the victim was using to carry bird seed and other items and pushed it down.

The suspect then punched the older man, shattering his glasses and injuring his nose and forehead. He was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for the cuts and dizziness.

Police arrested Bennett a short time later on Dennison Avenue. Bennett was released from the jail after posting $100 bond.
