Police arrested two people Monday and one early Tuesday on domestic-violence charges.

Michael Welsh, 43, of Hampton Court, was taken into custody about 5:45 a.m. Monday after police were called for a fight at his home.

Reports said when officers arrived, they heard screaming from inside but the door was locked, and after several requests to have it opened, officers had to kick it in.

Inside, reports said, Welsh was on top of a woman, and he was choking her and smacked her several times. The woman told police Welsh had been attacking her since 3 a.m. and was trying to have sex with her. There were several broken dishes inside, and several chairs were knocked over as well.

The victim had several bruises, reports said.

About 2:20 p.m. Monday, police were called to a home in the 1100 block of Katherine Street, where a woman there told officers her stepfather, Bobby Wilson, 62, had punched her after he yelled at her for turning down the heat. Reports said Wilson tried to push the victim out the door, and she fought back and was punched in the eye, which had swelling and bruising.

Wilson told police that the victim attacked him and he defended himself, but the victim’s mother, who would not sign a statement, said she heard the two arguing and that Wilson “fought her like he would a man.” Reports said Wilson was determined to be the aggressor, and he was taken into custody.

About 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, officers were called to a fight in the first block of East Philadelphia Avenue, and when they arrived, they found Sean Dozier, 25, on the porch. Reports said Dozier told police he was fighting with his live-in girlfriend over a popsicle.

Inside, the girlfriend told police Dozier pushed her down the stairs, then changed her story and said he only tried to push her. However, she told a supervisor that she was pushed, and she signed a complaint against Dozier, who was taken to the Mahoning County jail.

All three men are expected to be arraigned today.
