State OKs $3M to fix Trumbull County prison roof
COLUMBUS — The state Controlling Board released more than $3 million Monday for a roof replacement at a state prison in Trumbull County.
The funds will cover the costs of about 170,000 square feet of roof at the Trumbull Correctional Institution in Leavittsburg.
According to documents, the existing roof was installed more than two dozen years ago and has been patched multiple times. The “patches are no longer effective” in dealing with leaks, however.
Industrial Energy Systems of Cleveland submitted the low bid for the work.
In other business, lawmakers OK’d $14,690 for water pump repairs at the same prison.
The alternator and bladder tank “propels the water to the institution from the main line,” according to documents. The existing pumps are more than 24 years old.
Trombold Equipment Co. from the Cleveland area is the sole source for the equipment, parts and service.
