Ramos booked into Mahoning County jail

YOUNGSTOWN — Luis Cruz Ramos, 30, who was shot Friday in the leg by a member of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Fugitive Task Force trying to elude law enforcement, was released today from St. Elizabeth and booked into the Mahoning County jail.

Police said Ramos shot at police officers when he didn’t stop his van just after midnight Thursday. Ramos is charged with being a fugitive from justice, illegal possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and aggravated menacing.

He has been on the run from law enforcement since 2013 when he was charged with rape in Puerto Rico.
