Officials hope to lift Champion, Bazetta boil order today
VIENNA — The Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer’s Office is hoping to lift the boil alert for Champion and Bazetta townships today after the water main break that caused it was repaired Saturday by the Warren Water Department.
Ron Watson, senior environmental engineer with the sanitary engineers, said preliminary test results from samples collected Sunday look good, but final results are coming this afternoon.
The boil alert was issued Saturday morning because the county had to switch its Champion and Bazetta customers to a different water line that runs west along Johnson Plank Road while the line running north into Champion on Mahoning Avenue was out of commission.
A section of the Johnson Plank line sits idle, so using that water posed a bacteria risk, therefore requiring a boil alert to kill the bacteria, Watson said.
