Boil alert cancels classes at schools, KSU at Trumbull

A boil alert is expected to be lifted for residents of Champion and Bazetta townships at 3 p.m. today,

However, Champion Local Schools, Lake-view Elementary School and Trumbull Career and Technical Center (TCTC) High School are closed today because of the boil alert, reported 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.

The rest of the Lake- view School District schools are open as is the TCTC Adult Training Center.

In addition, classes at Kent State University at Trumbull in Champion have been canceled today. Staff at the regional campus have been advised, however, to report to work.

Until the advisory is officially lifted, residents of Champion and Bazetta townships still are advised to boil their water for three to five minutes before using it for drinking.

The Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer implemented the boil alert following a water-main break on Mahoning Avenue Northwest near the state Route 82 overpass on Friday morning.
