NEWARK, N.J.

Pop star Rihanna and TV mogul Shonda Rhimes were among the honorees at this year’s Black Girls Rock! event, where Hillary Clinton made an appearance and told the audience, “My life has been changed by strong black women leaders.”

The Friday night event was taped at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. The special will air on BET on Tuesday.

The Democratic presidential candidate earned cheers when she called black women “change makers and path makers and ground shakers.”

Another who earned loud applause was Rihanna, the final honoree of the night.

“Thank you so much for celebrating us in a world that doesn’t celebrate us enough,” she said onstage.

‘Trailer Park Boys’ actor arrested in LA

LOS ANGELES

An actor who stars on the television series “Trailer Park Boys” has been arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of misdemeanor battery.

Police and jail records show Michael Smith, who plays Bubbles on the show, was arrested in Hollywood about 1:15 a.m. Friday. He was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery and released hours later on $20,000 bail.

Smith denied any wrongdoing in a written statement.

“Trailer Park Boys” is produced by Toronto-based Showcase Television and appears on Netflix. The cult comedy is about three petty felons living in a trailer park.

Runaway bull saved by Jon Stewart, wife

NEW YORK

A bull that escaped from a holding area and darted through the streets of New York City has been captured and taken to greener pastures by Jon Stewart.

Officials tell The New York Times that the black and white Angus was spotted Friday in Queens. The bull soon was corralled at York College, where students snapped pictures and took videos.

The bull later was taken to an animal shelter by the former “Daily Show” comedian and his wife, who are animal advocates.

Magazine apologizes to Clooney for fake quotes

LONDON

Celebrity magazine Hello! has apologized to George Clooney for running an interview that the star says was “completely fabricated.”

Quotes from the article – in which the actor supposedly talked about his marriage to British lawyer Amal Clooney – were picked up by other publications around the world.

But Clooney said in a statement, “I have not given an interview to Hello! magazine, and the quotes attributed to me are not accurate.”
